Hey friends,
It’s officially been one month since I became a licensed real estate agent in Massachusetts.
When I passed the exam, I knew the material I had studied was the tip of the iceberg. It gave me the basics, the legal foundation, but it didn’t prepare me for the real, boots-on-the-ground work of serving clients in this fast-moving, high-stakes market. It was permission to get started. And I have definitely done that.
Since then, I’ve gone full steam ahead.
The coolest part? If there’s something you want to know—whether it’s how to write a marketing plan, host a showing, negotiate with confidence, or even build a brand from scratch—the resources at our fingertips are incredible. I’ve been treating every single car ride like a study hall, listening to podcasts about agency, marketing, entrepreneurship, mindset, and personal development. I’m able to attend office trainings from home instead of traveling into the KW office. It’s been the most efficient way to grow without missing baseball games, cheer practices, or family dinners.
This season feels like a pivot point—where big-vision dreams meet tiny, everyday actions. I didn’t realize how much my creativity had been stifled until I started dreaming big again. And let me tell you, that feels really, really good.
This month has required discipline with my routines so that I can build this new business while still showing up for the rest of my life. I’m still teaching full-time, and it’s the end of the school year (which any teacher will tell you is one of the busiest times). The kids are finishing up their own school year, and the calendar feels full—so the only way this works is if I stay committed to the structure. That has meant trading TV and bedtime reading for earlier nights, getting up with the sunrise to get my workout in, and then carving out hours after school and on weekends to work on real estate.
Outside of soaking up everything I can through podcasts and books, my absolute favorite way to learn has been shadowing. I’ve jumped in headfirst with my brother at The Hause Group, attending every open house, listing appointment, buyer consult, inspection, and appraisal I can. I’m learning the tools and tech, the paperwork and platforms, but also the rhythm of this business—how it feels to walk through a home with a client, how to answer hard questions, how to celebrate wins and support people through big decisions.
And I’m genuinely loving every minute of it.
It just keeps affirming what I already knew in my heart: this was the right move. I love all things home. I love the process. I love the people. And I’m beyond excited to keep learning, growing, and helping others find the place they get to call home.
Thanks for following along on this wild first month. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
