Summer Goals vs Reality

I Set Big Goals for Myself This Summer… Did I Actually Hit Them?

When summer began, I set out with the best of intentions. I told myself (and you!) that I’d write a weekly blog post to bring you along on this new adventure into real estate.

If you remember my last post, I was all about perfecting my morning routine. Well, here’s the honest update: it’s still far from perfect. 😅 But I have managed to increase my morning exercise substantially, and even though it continues to be a work in progress, I can feel the difference—and I know I’m on the right track.

As for those weekly updates? Let’s just say real estate had other plans. Instead of sipping coffee and writing blogs, I’ve been racing from showings to contracts to closings. The blog posts didn’t happen… but the business sure did.

When I launched into this summer season, I set what I thought was a bold but realistic goal: close one transaction a month. That felt like a big, exciting challenge. Fast forward to today, and not only have I closed four transactions, but I also have four more under contract and another listing on the market.

What started as a “let’s see how this goes” has turned into a whirlwind of showings, contracts, negotiations, late-night paperwork, and—best of all—helping incredible clients take the next step in their home journeys.

And yet, here I am staring September down, wondering where my summer went. Did I do enough with my kids? What memories can we squeeze in before the school year starts? What new routines do I need to put in place to juggle homework folders, soccer practices, and open houses?

It feels like time is racing, faster than I can catch it. The kids are growing, the business is growing, and life is stretching me in the most beautiful (and sometimes overwhelming) ways.

Back-to-School Focus

As the kids head back to school, I’m zeroing in on one thing: food. I don’t know about all you moms and dads out there, but for us, sometimes it feels like the most labor-some part of parenting is just keeping these humans fed—especially as they grow and their appetites grow right along with them.

So this fall, our family’s big goal is to carve out a couple of hours on the weekend (whenever we can squeeze it in) for meal planning and meal prepping. That way, when we’re on the road for work, activities, and the nightly dash to bedtime, we can still fill our bellies with real, nutritious food. We even prep breakfasts, so mornings start with something protein-packed instead of a sugar crash waiting to happen.

I’ll be sharing some of my favorite meal-prep hacks and recipes in next week’s post, but in the meantime, I’d love to hear from you—what’s your go-to back-to-school recipe that helps keep your kids full and fueled?
